Abstract
The purpose of this research is to: (1) Analyze the needs of students to improve scientific literacy (2) Create a design of SSI-based teaching materials so that they can be used to improve scientific literacy. (3) Conduct a trial on the design of science teaching materials based on socio-scientific issues of global warming material. (4) and Create a framework for the development model of science teaching materials based on socio-scientific issues of global warming material. This type of research is This research uses a research and development (R&D) model. to produce Science Teaching Materials Media Based on Socio Scientific Issues (SSI) Global Warming Material to Improve Science Literacy in Junior High School Students in Tegal Regency. This research refers to the development model that has been modified from the development of Borg & Gall, including 10 steps, namely potential and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, design revision, product trial, product revision, usage trial, usage revision, and mass production. Data collection techniques use questionnaires, interviews, observations and documentation. The subjects of this research trial were students of class VII of SMPN 1 Talang, SMPN 2 and 3 Talang, SMP N 2 Dukuhturi and SMPN 3 and 5 Adiwerna. The data analysis techniques used were normality test, homogeneity test, t test and feasibility test and media effectiveness. The results of the study indicate that there is an influence of the Science Teaching Materials media to Improve Science Literacy in Junior High School Students in Tegal Regency, in this case the media is positive and has a significant influence. The conclusion that can be obtained based on this study is the Analysis of teacher and student needs for media includes Analysis of Material Needs, Analysis of Learning Model Needs and Analysis of Teaching Material Needs. Knowing the media development design consists of media selection, format selection, compiling questions and answers and designing media. The feasibility of the media from the three validators obtained a material validation of 0.90. While the media aspect obtained an average of 0.86. This development begins with a needs analysis that shows that students need teaching materials that are more contextual, interactive, and connect science concepts with social issues. The design of teaching materials is developed by integrating the SSI approach that trains students to think critically, analyze data, and make decisions based on scientific information.
